DC Fab's 4 Year Anniversary
On Monday I was cordially invited to The Fab Empire's 4 Year Anniversary at Recess Lounge Located in the White House Corridor. Guests gathered, networked and enjoyed complimentary signature cocktails courtesy of CÎROC Premium Vodka. Along with enjoying a unique photo booth and cupcakes by TamiCakes D.C., DJ Heat of the "Big Tigger Morning Show," was on the 1's and 2's. News anchor Jummy Olabanji, WPGC radio personality Sunni,along with local bloggers Jasmine Henderson of The Jasmine Brand, Community Leader Tony Lewis jr., Yodit Gebyeres of Talk of DC, BET Television Producer angel Elliot,
The gift bags were packed with lots of goodies from these wonderful sponsors Carol’s Daughter, Clockwise Clothing, Curbside Cupcakes, D' Brows, Hela Spa, IRockFox Clothing, The Mile High Club Global, LLC, Neuro Drinks, Tami Cakes DC, Tea and Honey, Uptown Magazine, Wilder Experience and Vita Coco. This was an great event all around, I am glad I was able to be apart of it!

The Fab Empire
For all things fab that's in your city The Fab Empire has got it covered. I am a reader and a fan of TheFabEmpire, because they keep me abreast of things that's going on in my city and cities surrounding. During my daily blog read I stop by TheFabEmpire.com to read BmoreFab and DCFab and there is always something new and interesting for me to get into. So I got in touch with these FABULOUS ladies to see how FABULOUS their lives are and how things really work at TheFabEmpire.
First up Ms. Bmore Fab
She's a native of Baltimore, Maryland and a 2007 graduate of Hostra University in New York City with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism. She works for one of the nations leading television network companies producing documentaries and reality shows. She has worked for ABC and CNN where she developed her love for writing and producing. She is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Inc. and very enriched in her community in which she loves mentoring young girls. Bmore Fab also writes for many publications and has a column in the Afro American Newspaper.
In your own words what is Fab Empire's Purpose?
To inform readers about everything fab, entertainment and nightlife around town. Promoters would tell you where to go party but wouldn't give you a reason why, they didn't have substance.
What does Bmore Fab have in store for her readers in 2010?
Great Events coming, bring quality events, breaking news and the readers favorite Spotlight Series.
What blogs/websites does Bmore Fab like to visit?
Well if course TheFabEmpire, NecoleBitchie, TheYBF, The Root and Huffington Post. While it's fun to read gossip sites its good to be informed on news around the world.
What titles do you claim?(Blogger, writer, producer)
A successful blogger, writer, and producer, I wear many hats.

Joi-Marie McKenzie, 24, is an expert in Washington, D.C. nightlife. A
freelance writer and creator of TheFabEmpire.com, she also works at a
non-profit in Washington, D.C. focused on quality journalism and media
development. A native of Baltimore, MD, Joi-Marie attended the University of Maryland, College Park. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. serving on their National Information and Communication Committee.
Who started TheFabEmpire?
TheFabEmpire.com started with a single blog I started right out of college called DC Fab! I had just started an entry-level position where I wasn't fulfilled until I discovered Washington, DC nightlife. Being a writer, I combined my new love of nightlife with writing, creating DC Fab! When my friends said they wanted to replicate this in other cities such as Baltimore, New York and Boston, that's when TheFabEmpire was created.

What is TheFabEmpire's purpose?
The purpose of TheFabEmpire is to serve as a resource for young urban professionals in cities across the United States. By critiquing the worst events and highlighting the best events in local cities, we hope to provide the best of the social scene in cities such as Baltimore, Boston,
New York and Washington, D.C. We even have a site dedicated to the Christian Lifestyle community called Gospel Fab!, which is a very popular section of the site.
Who is TheFabEmpire's audience?
Young urban professionals...and by young we mean 18-35.
What does DC Fab have in store for her readers in 2010?
Going into our third year, I hope that DC Fab! can continue to provide
expert advice on the best of DC's social scene. We hope to not only cover
nightclubs and parties but special events, red carpet events, concerts and
even sporting events.
What blogs/website does DC Fab like to visit?
I like to visit political Web sites like Politico and The Hill along with other local Web sites like DCist. Of course I visit gossip sites such as TheYBF and even personal blogs like Vashtie's blog called Downtown Sweetheart.
What is the future for TheFabEmpire?
We hope to expand to other major cities in 2010.
What titles do you claim? (Blogger, writer, producer, etc)
Freelancer, Writer, Blogger, CEO
Anything else interesting that you would like the readers to know?
The success of TheFabEmpire took me by total surprise. When I first started it, I didn't let anyone know I was doing it. It wasn't until a promoter in Baltimore told me that he was reading my site and really liked it that I decided telling people I was actually blogging about nightlife
in DC. TheFabEmpire took a life of it's own and that's why I know that it's supposed to be here and that people are actually benefiting from the information we're giving them.
Also, when I first started, no one was covering nightlife in D.C. for the urban community. Now, many Web sites and blogs are popping up about nightclubs and parties in D.C. and other cities. I hope that it's a trend that continues because the more people talk about what happens after dark the more promoters and club owners will be held responsible for their product.
These women are young professional, self starting, hard working women who love the social nightlife. Check out their site @TheFabEmpire.com they have a lot in store for readers in 2010. If you are in their city you might run into them, so say Hey!!
