A Dream Is.....

Today we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for all he has done to bring equality, justice and peace amongst all women and men. It is such a honor to know that someone laid down their life for us to have the rights that we have today that go unnoticed and are taken for granted. I am thankful for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for the man that he was and all that he believed. May his soul rest peacefully.

In honor of  Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I came across a short film by singer/actor Tyrese Gibson entitled "A Dreamers Dream" with Blair Underwood and Jill Scott that I had to share. It literally touched my soul and I fell in love with it, (y'all know how I feel about film) please watch this short film.

A Dream Is......

Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial

I have been extremely excited about the Martin Luther King Jr. (my honorary grandfather)Memorial being built in Washington,DC for almost a year now. I am glad they decided to put a memorial in Washington, DC, although there are warnings of a hurricane to hit the East Coast I am still excited to go down to see the memorial. Martin Luther King would be so elated to see the statue in his honor if he was alive. We have over come a lot and I'm sure he would be proud.

All event for the MLK Memorial have been postponed due to Hurricane Irene. Check the site for more details:mlkmemorial.org

April 4th

On this day 43 years ago Martin Luther King was assassinated but he said this so well:

"And I've looked over, and I've seen the promised land. I may not get there with you, but I want you to know tonight that we as a people will get to the promised land. So I'm happy tonight. I'm not worried about anything. I'm not fearing any man."

May his soul continue to rest peacefully for he has given so much to the African American race.

Happy 3rd year anniversary (to my brother and sister in my head)

A DREAM DEFINITELY MADE PLAIN

Cliche or not, this weekend is extremely important to African Americans because of the sacrifice Dr. Martin L. King Jr gave during the toughest era in history. I am honored to reap the work he has sowed. Although he is gone in the body his dream, legacy, spirit and words live on.

ALL FOR MR. KING

HAPPY MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. DAY

HIS PARENTS DID A GREAT JOB IN NAMING HIM AND RAISING HIM. HE WAS NOT ONLY A MAN OF NON-VIOLENCE BUT ALSO A MAN OF GOD, AND A MEMBER OF ALPHA PHI ALPHA FRATERNITY INC. HE WAS A HUSBAND TO ONE OF MY ROLE MODELS CORETTA SCOTT KING AND FATHER OF FOUR. THIS WORLD WAS NOT READY FOR A MAN SUCH AS MR. KING AND IT SHOWED BY HIS ASSASSINATION IN 1968.
I PAY HOMAGE TO THIS GREAT MAN TODAY. HIS LEGACY IS CONTINUING AFTER 42 YEARS. ALTHOUGH WE HAVE NOT FULLY OVERCOME, WE HAVE COME TO THOSE DAYS WERE, LITTLE BLACK BOYS AND LITTLE BLACK GIRLS CAN SIT WITH LITTLE WHITE BOYS AND LITTLE WHITE GIRLS IN A CLASSROOM. I KNOW HE IS SMILING IN HIS GRAVE.

MARTIN LUTHER KING JR. BIRTHDAY WAS ON THIS PAST FRIDAY JANUARY 15TH AND HE WOULD HAVE BEEN 81 YEARS OLD.

Martin Luther King Quotes
"An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity."

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that, hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."

THANK YOU DR. KING FOR YOUR DILIGENTNESS AND WILLINGNESS TO WORK TOGETHER FOR ALL MAN KIND SO THAT WE MIGHT ONE DAY LIVE TOGETHER IN PERFECT HARMONY.

MAY GOD REST HIS SOUL!!
