Recap: Jill Scott Concert

On Thursday I couldn't wait to leave work to attend the Jill Scott concert, I have never seen her live and was more excited to finally get the chance to. So, I left work to meet up with my beau, before the concert we decided to get a bite to eat at Asian Spice. I am quite the foodie so I was kinda anticipating trying something new (I have never been to Asian Spice), I enjoyed a sushi roll called Drunken Munky(no alcohol involved), it was delicious, quick and less the mess.

After eating we dashed down the street to the Verizon Center to join the rest of the fans to see Jilly from Philly. It was sooooo many people there, young couples, older couples, girls hanging and guys too all for Jill. As we took our seats Salt N' Pepa were already performing one of their 90's hits that got me in the mood for the rest of the night. After Salt N' Pepa performed KEM came on next, I have never seen KEM perform live either and needless to say I was very impressed. His music just makes you feel good and at ease, it's that Saturday morning cleaning the house type of music or a quiet night to just relax of music as well. I liked the way he engaged the audience both men and woman, he had videos that were synced with his music one that went with every song (y'all know how I feel about videography).

Doug E. Fresh was the host of the concert and he was hilarious, he taught us the original dougie with a few different examples. Next up was the headliner that we all were waiting for, and that was Ms. Jill Scott. She came out with her natural Big Chop hair and a Orange checkered dress with matching leggings and nude wedges.  I was absolutely ready for whatever she decided to belt out, it didn't matter to me I love all of her songs they serve different purposes with different meanings. Some of the songs she performed are "Hate on Me", "Getting In The Way", "So Gone" (What My Mind Says). As she exited the stage after ending the show the crowd was in such an uproar that we called for her to come back, and she aims to please she gave us (the crowd) exactly what we wanted.

She said she could do one more song, (and lawwwddd if it wasn't one of my favs) she sang "He Loves Me" the opera and versing of another language at the end just sends that song into a different genre. I was truly pleased by her performance and that of her all male back up singers. I am so glad I went to the concert it was well worth every dollar we spent, I'm looking forward to seeing her again in concert most definitely.
