William James Basie (Count)
1904-1984
Pianist, Band Leader, Jazz Musician

During the 1940's-1950's Count Basie and his orchestra was the most popular band in the U.S. He is most known for the song "One O'Clock Jump", and " Jumper at the Woodside". Count is the First Black Male to win a Grammy in 1958.
