SF:How does it feel to be back on the radio?
LM:It feels great. After a 7 year hiatus from being on air daily, I got one of the greatest welcome backs.
SF:How did you feel when you got that call to come back to radio?
LM:I was honestly shocked. I wanted to know how they got my phone number and personal email address. (laughter) But I was excited to reply because CBS radio is where I actually had my first Lil Mo Show, so this is home.
SF:You have a very outgoing personality on the radio are you the same in person? (Explain your personality)
LM: My personality is a cross between Martin Lawrence and Jesus. (heavy laughter) I'm just kidding, but I used to watch Martin so much this is what inspired me to be ME on radio. Im very shy and introverted. But when that mic gets HOT I turn into Superwoman and I know what I like to hear so that's what I try to let resonate to my listeners.
SF:Do you prefer the radio over singing?
LM:It's all entertainment, so I like them equally. I love singing but I don't sing everyday, but when I do I give it my all, as I do with everything else. I'm a well rounded entertainer.
SF:How long do you plan on being in radio?
LM I'll stay on until it's time to pass the torch. I've seen people do this consistently for many years. Because I'm humble I've always had radio outlets that would love for me to bring my show to their station. So syndication is my next goal. So I'll be here for a while. Owwwww.
SF:I am originally from Washington D.C. and it excites me to see artist living in this area, you could be anywhere in the world, why did you choose the DMV?
LM:This is the best of both worlds. Northern exposure with swag of down south. It's the middle man of what makes the north meet the south.
SF:I know you are an R&B songstress but your voice is so soulful and powerful (as such of a gospel artist), have you ever thought about venturing into gospel music?(as your sole career)
LM:I've thought about it, but I know that where much is given much is required and because I'm still learning myself I know that stepping into the gospel realm requires ALOT of work, which I'm up for the challenge but I believe God has ordained me for a special ministry for this generation because he can TRUST ME, with them. I will NOT break or take advantage of their hearts. This is a weaker and wiser generation and they are fragile and they only know the down to earth LIL MO that is like a CHURCH MOTHER all in one. (laughter)
SF:Being a wife and a mother is like another full time job because of the time that you have to spend with your husband and children, has any of that affected your studio time or your career as a whole?
LM:My husband and children are well aware that they are my priority, so they understand that Mommy has to work and they love it. The amenities that come along with all that I do they LOVE it so they know when Mommy goes to work its SHOWTIME.
SF:Has being a family woman been the reason that you have been away?
LM:I did take a break to focus on my priorities. It's so easy to get off track and get lost in the sauce, but before I lost my mind, I had to take a break and revisit and concentrate what meant the world to me and that is my family.
SF:Now that you are back, there are talks about an album coming out..Congrats on that? However can you give some incite of what your fans can expect from you on this album?
LM:Thank You, as of now the album is on hold until we handle some legal issues, but this is going to be my greatest album yet. That's why I have to make sure everything is decent and in order.
SF:Who did you work with on this album? (singers, writers, producers, rappers)
LM: This album is solely produced by my family THE BBOYS. My husband and brother in law helped me do this project from conception to delivery. Features are a secret just know that everyone you would ever want to hear me with is on the album, I love it.
SF:When can we expect to purchase the album? (release date)
LM:As of now I will say this year or else I'm gonna just leak it. (laughter)
SF: (laughter)
SF:What is your motivation to keep working?
LM:My kids are my motivation, my husband is my motivation. My family is my motivation. God is my everything.
SF:So many people love your voice(myself included) but what voices do you love to hear or have playing on your ipod?
LM:Thank you, I love the clark sisters, faith evans, kelly price, fantasia, coko, this list goes so ON, too many to name. But honestly right now I'm blasting Jason Derulo.
SF:Have any of those people help mold/inspire you during your career?
LM:Yes, we constantly encourage and enlighten and empower each other. So it's cool that I look up to them, and we are also sisters.
SF:You are great on the radio but I am sure people would love to see and hear you at the same time, have you thought about acting or having your own reality show? (they are very popular right now) That show would be hilarious!
LM:I'm working on a pilot for a TV Show now. I will be hosting a variety show for unsigned artist that want their original music heard, I will critique and well as encourage them. It will be called Music Is My Life with Lil Mo.
SF:With greats such as Chaka Khan, Aretha Franklin, Patti LaBelle is your goal to have longevity like these women have?
LM:I adore Ms. Patti LaBelle, so I gleam from her and she encourages me to always be me and to stay humble and keep God first when I speak or tweet her or see her in person.
SF:What do you have coming up in the near future?
LM:I'm so excited about my now, I think the future is finally ready for me. I love what God has in store for me, because now I know I can handle it. Favor ain't fair.
SF:Do you have a website where your fans, followers can keep up with your upcoming events/showcases?
LM:My website is under construction, but they can tweet me @lilmo4ever
