Monique has really did her homework and she has made the honor roll. Monique's( who is a Baltimore, Maryland native) role as Mary Jones in "Precious" has been recognized, she has won awards from SAG(Screen Actors Guild) and Golden Globes. She has also been nominated and won awards from Washington DC, New York, Detroit, Boston and Online Film Critics Award. Her most recent nomination is for an Oscar along with her cast mate Gaborey Sibide(who is a first time actress) and film director Lee Daniels. The list of accolades goes on and on for actress, comedian and late night talk show host Monique. 
This Oscar nomination is setting a precedent for future roles for Monique and Gaborey Sibide. Lee Daniels has set a standard and showed what a great job he can do with his movies. Congratulations to them all!
